    Default A/B Test -> Variation B should not be indexed / robots=noindex

    Hi,

    IŽd like to do some A/B-tests in my shop.

    I have a variation-A and variation-B (different colors and location of the buttons).

    But the content is the same.

    Is there any chance to set variation-B.html as noindex?

    Or do I have to set the whole shop as noindex, perform my A/B-Test for some weeks and the turn indexing on?

    Any idea or a workaround?

    Thanks
    Dave

    How can it be a fair test if A is indexed by google and has inbound traffic, and B doesnt?

    At Google is my SERP "Need help ... -> click here".
    The user is directed to Variation-A.

    I want the same Content but different layout (Variation-B)

    So when the user clicks on "Need help" Google will separate the traffic to Variation-A and Variation-B.
    But I do not want, that Variation-B (same Content) will be index.

    Any idea?

    Google won't do that. Simply run your whole site in the new layout for a month or two and see if sales increase or decline

    What wonŽt Google do?

    http://www.cardinalpath.com/ab-testi...t-experiments/

    Google Analytics is offering a A/B-Test.

    Ok, I thought you meant Google doing that naturally. Normally, this experiment you are using is for different content, not layout, so you would simply add a no index metatag to the product description, but as you're only changing styling, I don't think this would be possible.

    Thats what I am looking for.
    Where can I add a noindex metatag?

    admin->categories/products->meta tags

    I can only insert meta name="keywords" (content) and meta name="description" (content).

    My question is, where and how can I add the no index metatag at admin -> categories/products->meta tags.

    Regards Dave
