Is there a setting in admin that can limit the number or items that are shown in the shopping cart. Something similar to the product listing, where you can limit number of items per page?

hmm no response Take it this isn't possible without some custom coding?
Nothing built in. It would have to be coded. Are your usual orders so large that this is a problem ?
Probably no response as you haven't explained why you would want to do this?
Most including myself have NO need to paginate the shopping cart page as most of my sales would only be a few items.
More info please?
Does your shop typically have customers who put many dozens of different items in their cart, So that the shopping cart listing is unmanageable?
or is their some "other" reason you want to do this?
To my knowledge their are no admin switches for this..
So yes it would appear to require custom coding.
I am using the product attribute grid for a personalised embroidery clothing website. So for example if a customer chooses 5 small t-shirts in the colour green and 6 of the same t-shirts in medium, large etc - then my shopping cart displays them as individual products. We have price breaks for 1-4, 5-9, 10-19,20-50 so on...So with different combinations this can result in many products in the cart and destroys the page layout.
It's usually the simplest methods that go unnoticed but for anyone else having this problem all you need to do is add max-height: and overflow: scroll; to the shoppingcart div in css. It's not ideal but it will resolve the issue.
Good thinking. If I had multiple screens' worth of shoppingcart content, I would actually prefer to scroll up and down to see them all, rather than have to click back and forth between pages.
