show images in some catalogs but not others

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to turn off images in some catalogs but not others. I know you can turn off images universally in config/product listing/display product listing -- set to 0. That works very slick but need to be able to do both at the catalog level.

You want to show some category images but not others? Remove the image from the category - top or sub category.

So, is that something you turn off in admin? I don't want a blank image icon showing -- just want to show a list of items in a catalog without images.

It would help others with the same question if you posted the answer rather than just saying you solved it. For the record,

admin > Configuration > Images > Image Required > set to false.

For the record -- turn off images universally in config/product listing/display product listing -- set to 0. If you add images regardless, it will display them. So I can now have a catalog with just a list of products and other catalogs that show images. Pretty slick!
