Default Creating a Testing site from the Production site

I am trying to copy the production site from /mysite to /mysite/testing to create a testing site to work in.

I have copied the site files to the testing folder. I copied the database and renamed it.
    I edited the /mysite/testing/includes/configure.php file.
    I edited the /mysite/testing/admin/includes/configuration.php file.

When make changes to the layout it only effects the production site.
What configuration file am I missing?

Sounds like you didn't edit the database info in the config files to point to the copied database.

In particular in the admin directory.

    I specifically said:

    "I edited the /mysite/testing/admin/includes/configuration.php"

I changed the database information in all of the configuration files that I could find.

Could you be specific and tell me which other configuration files that I need to change other than the ones that I listed Please.

I went back and checked my work and I had not changed the admin configuration file like I thought. I had changed everything but the database pointer. It is separated now.

    Thanks and my apologies.

No problem, glad you checked again. It was the configure.php file in your admin/includes folder though instead of configuration.php, correct?

Happens a lot to miss something. Glad it's fixed now, though.
