lhungil gave you a VERY good and detailed explanation of what might have happened, but may I suggest one more thing: try running the Fix Cache Key utility as this is what might be causing your issues. Well, not on a fresh install, but now I'm no longer sure if you're using the clean install or the old site that was initially causing problems...
As a side note - you mentioned you had used mojo installer... Although I'm not familiar with it, you should generally try to avoid any host installers and install Zen Cart by manually uploading the files and running it's own installer...
