Set whole category to free shipping

Hi

I want to install free shipping for a whole category.

I have standard Zencart 1.5.1 with standard (green) template.
The following add-ons are installed, see picture below.

I had some months ago installed the free shipping module, I checked it is still shown as installed in Zencart admin.
Then I ran the following SQL but it did not install free shipping for this category. I got the response " 0 rows affected. (Query took 0.0077 sec)"
SQL = "UPDATE products SET product_is_always_free_shipping = 1 WHERE master_categories_id = 69; "
I tried the SQL both in Zencart admin and in MyPHPadmin.

I have some individual products set as "free shipping" and that works OK; I mean if I test order these products in my shop they are shown as free shipping in the checkout.

Done some more research

The category "69" I am trying to set as "free shipping" does not have any products but has a heirarchy of other categories within it. I checked my products table in my DB and I do not have the category "69" showing in the master category list.
I assume therefore I can only set categories as "free shipping" when they have products?
This means I cannot set the top category but I have to set each of my nine sub-categories that have products individually as "free shipping".
I assume this is correct?
I did a test with a category that has products and it now has free shipping

Anybody know a cunning way I could do all the categories with one SQL or do I have to do each category alone?
