Default Can't login to admin area with fresh install of 1.5.1 on wheezy

    Hi.
I have installed zen-cart 1.5.1 on a brand new install of debian wheezy. I'm using the older version as this is an intermediary server which I want to use to upgrade an existing install before moving to a new host which uses latest zen-cart. The install goes fine and I can access default site (using ip address) and renamed admin area. However attempting to log in to admin page just refreshes page removing the attempted username and password. Permissions for configure.php in includes and admin/includes are 444. The cache and logs directory are 777 and I can write to them as a normal user. No debug logs are written other than one from the install. I have tried all the things suggested in FAQ (different browser, rename .htaccess, use phpmyadmin to reset admin password, disable ssl etc) but problem persists.

    Would love some suggestions.

    Cheers

Really wish I could give more pointed assistance, but I am thinking that it relates to session settings and the use of the ip address instead of say localhost or some sort of domain name. At least that seems to be what has been discussed in situations like this. Or perhaps something in the php.ini setup related to sessions? Basically that is the area of issue or typical reason that one is moving along just fine then ends up back at login... (Typically)

    Hi mc12345678
Thanks for your answer! A simple s/1.2.3.4/www.domain.com/g in both configure.php files and adding entries to /etc/hosts and it worked right away.

    Thanks again!

Welcome. Fortunately in this situation was able to glean the most probable cause from what was provided. As you go along the way though and you are more thaan likely to come along other "issues", be sure to address the items listed in the posting guidelines. Sounds like you have a good plan for this site, transfer first, then upgrade, but those that offer help can only do so from a position of knowing what you've got, how you got there, and where you're headed. :) good luck to you and if in your reviews of this site, you see something that would help someone else, feel free to chime in! :)
