Default PayPal Pro (3.0) with 1.3.9g?

Hello, I have a Zen Cart store that is version 1.3.9g and I am interested in integrating PayPal Pro 3.0 account. Is this possible with the 1.3.9g version? If so, is there a link to some documentation?

Instructions for configuring a Zen Cart store for use with PayPal are at: http://www.zen-cart.com/content.php?20-PayPal

You didn't say what country your merchant's store is in or what country your merchant's paypal account is domiciled as. The old version you're using may not have paypal support integrated for that country.

It is possible that a "PayPal Pro 3.0" account may not work ... but we can't confirm since there's no documentation on PayPal's site which explicitly outlines what exactly "3.0" is or which countries it is valid for. Now, since you work for PayPal, maybe you can explain further. There is one place which mentions "built on the 3.0 stack" in relation to the "hosted solution" product, but there's nothing easily locatable which explicitly outlines 3.0 specs and calls it 3.0, which countries support it, etc.
Further, there's no clear means of setting up a 3.0-specific paypal merchant account in your sandbox, which makes it very difficult to test further.

NOTE: ZC v1.3.9 was published in 2010, and is not compatible with modern versions of PHP.
Additionally, feature improvements, such as increasing support for a wider array of functionality and vendor integrations have been added in the 4 subsequent versions released since then. The latest version of Zen Cart is compatible with modern versions of PHP, which allows your site to run on modern servers which can be kept up-to-date with modern security protections. It is strongly recommended that you upgrade to the latest version of Zen Cart.

Maybe I'm a dummy, but what is "PayPal 3.0"?
Is that something fancy like "Web 2.0" was?
