.httaccess would NOT be the cause.. but wonder if your method of upgrading the databases is at issue.. pulling over "select tables" sounds like cherry picking tables and this is not a recommended upgrade practice..

In any case sounds like you are missing pieces of the 1.5.4 codebase which is the only reason why the new functionality wouldn't work..

No piece of the 1.5.4 code is absent - it is a complete NEW rebuild - so unless a file is missing from the Zen Cart download, this would not be an issue.

As for "cherry picking" tables not being a recommended upgrade practice, there is no reason, for example, to bring over configuration tables if you are downsizing the amount of mods that are in place and want a somewhat "fresh" 1.5.4 database so you can install the latest version of mods.

I am sure everyone does things differently than others. In the 10+ years I have been working with Zen Cart, I do what makes the most sense to me, which works very well for me and my clients and their sites.

Right.. you do whatever method of upgrading works for you.. That kinda wasn't the point I was making at all..

Here's the point I WAS making.. You stated that your converted v1.5.4 stores are not behaving as expected with the new EZ Pages code.. You also stated that you upgrade using a practice that is not a recommended practice by "cherry picking" tables to convert..

Ssince you are upgrading in a manner that is contrary to recommended practices, I was merely suggesting that in this method, it's POSSIBLE that your converted store is NOT working as it should because of the conversion method you are using..

By contrast, my converted v1.5.1 store IS working as it should, and I followed the recommended practices for upgrading (which means I don't cherry pick data from the database when doing an upgrade)... Suggesting that if you want to know why your converted store isn't behaving as it should, it MIGHT have something to do with this upgrade method and the possibility that your cherry picking is missing something.. 'tis all..

I guess I am not altogether sure why the dead horse is being beaten here, it is late and maybe I am just too tired to "get it" From what I see your 1.5.1 store is working EXACTLY the same as the 1.3.9, 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 stores I have upgraded to 1.5.4. Meaning.... you have to click the TOC button in order to get an EZ Page to show up that does not have header, footer or sidebox buttons clicked on.

As I said previously, the bottom line is that prior to version 1.5.3 (and possibly 1.5.2), the EZ Pages were visible without having to click on the TOC button in the admin - and without having any of the header, footer or sidebox buttons clicked on. This is for NEW builds as well as any upgrades.... so in all reality, an upgrade, however it is being done, is not the real issue. The issue is a change of code.

As I also said previously - now that I know to tell people they have to click the TOC button, that works for me since I don't have to modify the code to make that function work with 1.5.3 and 1.5.4 websites.

I think that should hopefully clarify the situation for others reading this thread and hope they can muddle through all the extra stuff to get the info they need.

BTW - I noticed the problem does not apply to an upgrade to 1.5.4 I am working on right now that has Ultimate SEO URL's installed. The ez pages will show up whether the TOC is clicked green or not.

I'm still not clear whether there's a case to consider that there's a bug or not.

Since this was posted in Bug Reports I'd like to get clarification: Is there a bug? If so, please explain how to reproduce using a clean unaltered install of v1.5.4, and I'll be happy to fix it.

Given that this thread was started under Bug Reports, and it appears to be confirmed that it's a false report, I'm closing this discussion, as it's clearly going in another direction now, and now has nothing to do with Bug Reports.
