    Default What cosequencies do I face if I rename admin after store is up and running?

    This isn't really related to zencart, more to IE9.
    I regretfully clicked on do not remember password form my admin login.
    Spent way too much time messing with IE to try to fix the problem
    So I thought, what would happen if I renamed the admin folder to another name?
    Will it be seemless? or do I need to change a bunch of php files?
    Godaddy renamed admin so it's not 'admin' anymore when I set up Zencart

    You can rename it at any time, and Zencart will adjust.

    This may not be the case for all stores with ZC 1.5.1 running. The presence of the actual admin path in the admin/includes/configure.php file would indicate that the same file would need to be updated to support an admin directory name change. But that should be the only php file that would need to be changed if the admin directory is changed.

    If an .htaccess file was added to the store's root (not a default action nor requirement for ZC, but may be needed by other plugins.) Then that file may need to be revised as well if the admin path is identified in that file...

    or update the configure.php file to match what it would look like if you do a vanilla v1.5.1 install, and it will not matter if you change the name of the admin folder because as Steve pointed out Zen Cart will adjust..

    Agree... Anyone have access to a vanilla install version of the admin configure.php (ZC 1.5.1) that they can grab and post? I'm in cell phone land with untold numbers of screens to try to log into and navigate to get to a baseline admin/includes/configure.php... Just seems like it would make sense to include in this discussion so that it would be better understood... I guess there is one in the FAQ somewhat, I think it is the store version though...

    The operative line(s) in configure.php looks like this:

    define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', preg_replace('#^' . str_replace('-', '\-', zen_parse_url(HTTP_SERVER, '/path')) . '#', '', dirname($_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'])) . '/');

    I'm not capable of writing that, so the installer created it, and I believe it automatically senses the admin folder name.

    WHIW, I never edit either configure.php file when installing Zencart. The installer seems to give me just what I need.

    No problem.
    It's even less complicated if you're using the latest version of Zen Cart. For your old version, simply follow the instructions here:

    Ya, and since everyone who's ever used GoDaddy knows what GoDaddy renamed the admin folder to, there's no more "security by obscurity" there. So their rename offers no protection whatsoever.
    Good idea to pick your own name.
