zc_install only says re-check - won't upgrade

I know I'm starting off the day sleep deprived but this is weird.

A site I set up to start with on my server that no one else has ever touched.

Start upgrade. Get to inspection. Usual stuff - configure files unwriteable but it only says re-check. No update possible.

I've seen this before but danged it I can remember what causes it.

never figured it out - ran sql manually

I never figured out why it was doing that. That's my biggest concern. It's not too hard to run the sql in the database but I prefer to know why things happen - since I'll probably see it again.

This is generally caused by an error in includes/configure.php. Check each value - ensure trailing slashes are there when they need to be, for example.

Had this happen yesterday,
rename the (ADMIN ) back to admin and run the installer

i'm sure you need to change your permissions on the configuration.php files it says not writeable to writeable recheck then it should let you do it

Definitely not the config file - if the slashes. I checked that file first but don't see a problem.

Why would making the config file writeable make any difference?

Or changing admin folder back? Never have to do either on this same server for other upgrades.

You change the file permissions of the file to allow you to make modifications (which the upgrade will do) then change them back after.

Diva, I ran into this the other day and Barco gave me the suggestion to actually rename the admin folder to admin
it works, Servers running suphp dont need to change the file permissions
