    Default Suddenly email replies are going to me not my customer

    All of a sudden when I get a email through my website and I want to just hit the reply button it will send the email to me instead of the sender.
    Also order confirmations sometimes go to my email address instead of the customer.

    I tried google the problem but cannot find a answer.

    Thanks in advance for any help.
    Dave

    It's possible your hosting company's email server is stripping out the reply-to address in your responses.
    Or your email program may have made a change in a recent software update.

    I will call my hosting company to see what they say.

    How would I check on the 2nd item that you bring up?

    By "your email program", I mean the software with which you're reading and replying to emails .. ie: outlook, gmail, applemail, spark, mailbird, thunderbird, etc

    I am using gmail. How do I find out if that is the problem?
    I did call my hosting company but as I expected, they did blame it on my email program.

    I just don't know how to start finding a solution even if is gmail.

    Perhaps gmail is just flat-out ignoring the "reply to" setting in the emails.
    Perhaps they have a new setting that controls it?

    For what it's worth I had a computer guru look into this who also understand Google, gmail and he said they have no control over what is happening here.
    This only happens when some one contacts me through the website.

    My website hosting company of course blames it on my email provider.

    Now I have no idea where to start looking for the problem.

    in gmail, look at an email that came in from your website. on the right hand side of the window are 3 small dots. click on the that. then click on show original.... then download original.

    if you PM with that email, i will take a look and see if i can come up where the problem might be.

    looking at email header information is the way to go. now you have an idea!

    ok, i have worked with the OP on this confusing issue. all of the email headers from ZC look fine. no hosting stripping of anything.

    apparently it is a FEATURE of gmail. a simple google search of gmail ignores reply-to turns up numerous cases of this problem/feature.

    my understanding is that if you receive an email from yourself, and that address is a gmail address (or using the gmail send as, or having your domain email completely hosted by gmail), gmail will ignore the reply-to and just respond back to yourself. they think that it is a feature to prevent some sort of spoofing or the like. i have tested and confirmed this to be the case....

    this solution worked on my test server, however depending on your email configuration, it may not allow for sending... unfortunately, i can not test in every scenario. so if you are experiencing this problem, i would give this a go.

    in:

    /includes/modules/pages/contact_us/header_php.php

    look for and change as such:

    PHP Code:
    //from:
    zen_mail($send_to_name$send_to_emailEMAIL_SUBJECT$text_message$name$email_address$html_msg,'contact_us');

    //to:
    zen_mail($send_to_name$send_to_emailEMAIL_SUBJECT$text_message$name'[email protected]'$html_msg,'contact_us'''''$email_address);
    if this works, it is probably something we should look at in the code for those store owners who use gmail for mail, as it looks to be a pretty common problem for gmail store owners with a contact us form on their website.
