    Default Counter_history

I'm pretty sure it's not, but is the counter_history data used for anything other than populating the Visitor table in admin?

    No, that's all. Just the visits/sessions table/graph.

    Excellent. Thanks.

We had 6 or 7 long-established clients where this table grew to 500,000+ records, and whilst I don't personally understand why, the sites all slowed down considerably...clearing out this table restored all off them to normal, so it must be more than a coincidence.

Just wanted to be sure that the Visitor History was the only thing affected.

Any chance you have a backup of one of those that we could do some testing against? I wonder if an index might help, or whether switching it to InnoDB might help?

For other readers, note that attachment of the file actually can't be done via PM; however, I'm sure that the above worked out how to get the right information to the right place. :)
