I have a daughter who is graduating this year. She has taken every computer science course her HS had and I talked to her about learning ZC from the developer side. She said she is interested so I will get her to create a github profile later this week.

My initial advice to her was to learn HTML 5 and CSS (not just ZC specific but a core knowledge is needed). But I am second guessing myself as I am probably not the right person to advise her. If you, the development professionals, were talking to someone interested in doing this type of work, what would you suggest that they start learning first?

I had to go ask her about what language they were using in school. It was mostly Python. She was on a Robotics team that used Java so I think she is in good shape to start PHP now.

Would suggest also going a step further and consider jQuery to be added to that list.
