disable checkout for individual product

Is there a way to have a product listed but not enable ordering of it?

I have an older product that many people look for but I want to steer them to a whole different site (off ZenCart). So, what I was hoping to do is retain the product in my main listing but add information and link in the product description to send them to the new location.

I couldn't see any kind of setting in edit product that might allow me to do this.

The quickest way to make it impossible to purchase any product is to make it Call for Price when you edit the product.

It's then up to you if you want to just mention the new product in the product's description or use a single page css to turn off the Call for Price text.

Thanks for that suggestion. That was a possibility I considered. I'm not familiar with using "a single page css." How would one do that?

I hesitated to answer that as the OP did not give us answers to the posting tips.

Not trusting my test site. Are you confident these will work with TM, bootstrap, or some other template?

Just wanted to circle back. Using the page specific css to hide elements of the product info page did work for me. I ended up not marking the two products as call for price because I'm using that designation for certain products that we only rent. Although I could hide the "rental" button and text on the product page, it still appeared on the product listing page which I didn't want. So, in the end I just used the page specific css to hide the add to cart button, which worked fine for my needs. A customer can still technically put the two items in their cart if they only view them from the listing, but I can live with that. Because of the nature of these products, it's unlikely and not the end of the world if someone still orders these through our ZenCart.
