The second option is what I intend to do.
I need to provide an accurate description of a category and the space allotted for description is not enough.
So I thought to create an EZ page to provide a more accurate and complete description.
Maybe an EZ page will not be enough because i would like to include pictures and sections maybe chapters.
Can you provide guidance, please.

Create your EZ-Page (they can contain almost anything) and place a link to it in your product's description.

65,535 characters is not enough for the categories description?

Could change or increase the data type in the table, though really wonder what category can't be described in that many characters.

As to alternative display of the description, yes there are alternatives such as has been suggested to use a clickable selection that goes to or pops up the desired content.

Well, there are sections and I have already set subcategories, site not live yet.
FYI the product is mate, a south american herbal infusion, not drank the usual way like tea in cups.
Description must include health benefits, containers are wood or vegetable gourds, need to be prepared, special preparation of the leaves and straw used to suck it in, all those should have visual depictions, there is also a technique for drinking.
Hope to have the best description of the drink since the vids I saw on Utube are lacking.

The category description is a summary, that information should reside on the product's page so that when purchasing it is there... People will not read it on the category index page.

Thanks for all the (free) help.
But I solved the problem in a rather unconventional way to the chagrin of some hardliners.
I use Linux, so I have to explain in Linux language, I created a directory called PDF in the root of the site, but you can call it whatever.
Next, in my test site I created a file in a text processor called Writer, distributed in the KDE desktop that I use, I created it in odt format which can save in pdf format for easy display in any browser. the files are there I will link to them:

This is much easier for me than EZ pages, sorry purists

You need to protect that directory at least with an index so it cannot be browsed =)
