Software Products With License Keys?

Is there a way to issue a license key when a customer purchases downloadable software? Our software runs as a demo until the cutomer purchases a license key. We need ZenCart to issue the license key / code after the order has been placed.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated - and thanks in advance...

Not with a standard cart, but it could certainly be customized to handle license keys. You'd probably have to:
a. add another table to the database for them;
b. modify the checkout process so that the next unused key is allocated to the product and included in the confirmation email and in a new field in the orders_products table;
c. set that key status to used in your keys table.
d. build a new page for the admin section to manage the keys.
