Problem with my products..duplicate names

I have a weird error on my site. In firefox every product category name is written twice.
example:
after clicking on a product in a category it takes me to the product info page. here we see a picture of the product and some basic information. now, directly above the product picture it says the name of the category.
here it is in firefox:

jackets and vests
jackets and vests
***product image here**

now, in Internet explorer that text "jackets and vests" appears to be missing. it's actually the same color as the background **white** for some reason. moving your cursor over that spot will reveal the text.

Any ideas why these things are happening? I can post any code you need or the ip address if you like. I need to get this figured out soon. it's the last big bug I have to deal with.

Running on a wisp here...

Look at your source. Is one the 'jackets and vests' really alt text for an image?
If the image is missing, the alt text would show. IE and FF may differ on how they apply styles to it.

Otherwise, in the source find the two lines-look for <!-- comment --> code and search for that in the Developers Toolkit (last box, search Catalog) to track down where the two items are being added.

If you post a link it would be easier-we can look at the source itself.

The names are showing twice because you have no category images definaed. You can eliminate the problem by using the transparent gif instead of another image.

Ok, on the transparent gif thing. where in the admin would I define the transparent gif and what is the name of that gif? All I've done is add the product and place an image with it. I've made no image changes.

If I read it right, she's saying when you create your categories, use pixel_trans.gif as the image for your categories.

If you don't plan on using images for your categories at all, goto
Configuration -> Product Info -> Previous Next - Navigation Includes Category
and set it to 'off'

I use breadcrumbs, so the category is displayed there, and the prev/next (where your issue is occuring) just shows prev/next buttons for products.
