Alternatives to the VIES system for UK & Switzerland.
For example the UK could continue to maintain their national VAT number database but under a different name or under VIES via a licence agreement?

Does not seem to be any plan for Switzerland to join!

THere is no need for the UK and Switzwerland to be in this system. It is to check if a company is legit within the EU.
