    Default Permissions problems?

Hi, I am very new to ZC and am just working my way through things. I have doe a search of these forums and keep getting an error page on my browser. Hence the post. I have also asked several friends who use ZC sucessfully but none can help.

I want to use the Define Pages Editor for the main page and I keep getting this message:
Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/kidzin/public_html/cart/includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php

from the directories public_html through all of the ones listed they are ALL set at 755 EXCEPT html_includes which is 777. As per the ZC instructions. The file define_main_page.php is 644.

Does anyone have an idea of what I may have done or need to do?

    Many Thanks,
    Leah

To write to the files ... you need to set the directory /includes/languages/english/html_includes and all of the subdirectories and files to 777

am I right in thinking that the only subdirectory I need to change is classic??? I think after html_includes there is only that one.

OR do I have to do every bit of that string IYKWIM?

    Sorry to be a PITA

Ok I have just reset permissions as follows:

    /public_html 777 /cart 777/includes777 /languages777 /english777 /html_includes777/classic777/define_main_page.php644

AND it still won't work!!!! same message:
Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/kidzin/public_html/cart/includes/languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php

I get this error on all the define_page things. Could it be my host has a permissions problem?

Note: you should really use the templates and overrides ...

Using the Classic Template will allow all customization and changes to be overwritten during an upgrade or update ...

NOTE: the only copy of the Define Pages is on your server in the /includes/languages/english/html_includes

Be sure to always maintain a good offline backup when done making changes ...

Edited for the fussy ones who like proper spelling rather than leave you in the dark ...

In the mean time, for permissions instructions, you can always dig out into your /docs folder for which permissions level you need to set on specific folders. ;)

    /includeslanguages/english/html_includes
sometimes - when we type too fast. :)

    it should be:

    /includes/languages/english/html_includes
