Installation Complete but text only, no background!!

Hello. I've been searching the forums for help but so far, nothing. So a little help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Installed Zen Cart, latest version, everything went okay but when I go to my store or the admin area, the text appears but no background. You can have a look at www.chicapparel.co.uk.

Hosting is with streamline.net.

Completely stumped. I know someone opened a similar thread and the chmod permissions were mentioned. I changed back the permissions on the configure.php files after installion to 644. I've tried 707, 444.

I have been in touch with streamline.net. I do have a control panel with the hosting but no option of changing the chmod permissions there. I have checked thir FAQ and although chmod permissions are mentioned, no detail on what their servers preference is. I have also emailed them to ask just to be on the safe side.

Either that or I am completely off the mark and it's something else entirely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. New to all this so simplified would be very nice! Thanks in advance

It sounds like your hosting configuration doesn't like the settings in the /includes/.htaccess file. Try TEMPORARILY renaming that file to see if the problem is resolved.

It looks like your host's settings are blocking the stylesheets from being loaded, etc. You may have to work with them to merge .htaccess contents into a control-panel area in order to maintain the security/protection normally provided by the supplied .htaccess files.

Hi. Thank you soo much for the super quick reply. I renamed the include/htaccess file to check.php. Went to check and IT WORKED!! Thank you soo MUCH.

What do I do about the renamed file? Thank you in advance.

You'll need to talk to your webhost to discuss how to make the security settings in the supplied .htaccess files work acceptably in your host's environment.

Dr Byte, thank you for all your help. It's nice to know that someone is there to help. I contacted my host and to protect .htaccess files, they wanted an extra fee for password protection!

I am now considering a more zen cart friendly host. I will most definately be back for when I get stuck again!

Streamline is a Reseller of Fasthosts web space. You don't need directory protection for .htaccess to work - you just need the server setup correctly (if it is a Linux server - if it's Windows .htaccess doesn't work anyway).

You'd be right to consider moving, because they also charge for shared ssl and it won't work with a dynamic php based shopping cart.
