If you only need it on a "per session" basis, you could code something to track product-viewing history in a $_SESSION variable, and display its output in a sidebox.Originally Posted by swguy

I have managed to create a blank sidebox for use with this module, but my understanding of the core system does not allow me to write the coding for storing and displaying the session data.
Can any of you zen gurus help me out with this as I am sure loads of users would welcome this small mod/sidebox if it was available. It would also be nice to be able to limited the number of entries listed to say 4 or 5. Maybe this could be controlled via the admin panel.
Is there anyone willing to help with this?
Is there a MOD for this feature. I know it is becoming more and more popular on sites so I wanted to see if anyone has done anything like this for Zen?
Thanks
A sidebox that shows the last 5 products they looked at.
A cookie that saved so when they return they can see the same
side box with the last 5 product they viewed.
Seen this in a couple of sites. Thought it would be a cool contribution.
hey,
just the other day i used some code that remembered what page you were visiting while you logged in.
could you not use that to "remember" the products in an array and then copy a sidebox module and change the code to suit?
might be easier if it can be done.
I have this on my cgi-based ClickCartPro site at http://classygroundcovers.com/ - I am moving it to a Zen Cart and would love to retain this feature as customers love it.
Classy Groundcovers (current) -> Classy Groundcovers (Zen)
FWIW, the "recently viewed" module on the cart that I am porting to Zen Cart (http://classygroundcovers.com) works by storing a string of colon-separated item numbers in a persistent cookie. Whenever a visitor comes back they see what they last looked at.
Anyone know of a mod that manipulates a sidebox based on a cookie's contents as a basis to start from?
I'm going to have to contract this module if no one has any advice how to create this, my customers often take many visits to decide what they want - many have commented how useful this is...
Classy Groundcovers (current) -> Classy Groundcovers (Zen)
Earlier this year I contracted a guy to create a side-box that displayed recently viewed items for my store. I have contacted the person who has provided me with the rights to upload the contribution. He is going to create a simple install instrution for me and once its done i will submit the whole module for others to use.
