    Default Simple 1-2 product stores

    Hi folks,

I have a client with just 2 products. We'd like to use zen cart, but will only need the most basic of features. No need for categories, boxes etc... just add to cart, checkout and the logic behind that.

Does anyone have examples of successfully executed zencart stores like this?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Dan - nearly all of the built-in features can be disabled via the admin. While Zen Cart might be a bit of over-kill for now, it will leave plenty of growing room for your client.

Default other carts for simple stores?

    Thanks for your reply.

Any recommendations for other carts for super simple ecommerce sites?

Naturally, we're going to recommend Zen Cart .... pretty much exclusively

    Well that was expected :)

But don't you think there is more than one solution, and perhaps Zen maybe overkill in some situations?

Since this is an open source community, I was hoping to hear about some other ideas too.

    Thanks,
    Dan

    Just my opinion -

The engine needed to drive a secure e-commerce site has a minimum threshold. The minimum programming needed for such a site will certainly handle a large number of products and does not benefit from having just 1 or 2.

So, I do not think Zen Cart is overkill.

If you are skilled at php and SQL you could likely code something yourself. Since you are here asking questions I presume you don't have the skill. In either case, installing Zen Cart is easier and faster. It will give you the security, flexibility and dependability to sell however many items you desire to sell.

Best wishes as you decide what software to use.
