Default Can't get shipping to work (zone method)

    Hi,

I'm using 3.0, and set it up so I can ship CDs to the U.S. and Canada as Zone 1 for $3.50 for up to 1 lb. and $5.00 for up to 3 lbs. For the rest of the world, I set it up for $9.50 for flat rate Global Priority.
I set my country and Zip code in Configuration-Shipping & Packaging. I set the weight on the CDs for .5 (I figured that was a half pound per CD), and set the Tare to ignore the weight, effectively bypassing it - I think.

Problem - I get the message:
Zone Rates (The shipping rate cannot be determined at this time)

under the shopping cart. What did I leave out?

Found the answer - stupid, as usual! I didn't realize there was a 255 character limit for each zone, and tried to stick all the ISO codes for the rest of the world into Zone 2. Not only is that dumb because of the different shipping costs between, say, Great Britain and Japan, but also there were non-valid codes in there such as NATO.

I would suggest you double check the ISO codes, too. Great Britain was listed as UK from the list I got online, when it should have been GB and wasn't recognized until I changed it. Of course, that was the country I tried to test it with (after the US), so it complicated it for me. BTW - screwing up Zone 2 must have messed up the programs ability to use Zone 1, because after I pared down Zone 2 everything worked fine. Also, I used lower case instead of upper case on Zone 2, which isn't right either.

Live and learn, or something like that.

Now I'm using 1.3.0.1 - I just upgraded from 1.3.0.0 Unfortunately, it wiped out all my shipping info and I have to start all over again. I asked another question regarding adding Zones, but no replies yet. I changed the numzones parameter to 6, but only the first 3 seem to work.
If you have any ideas about that, I'd appreciate hearing them!

    When working with Zones ...

You need to save your current setting if you have made them already ...

Then remove the Modules ... Shipping ... Zones ...

    Then, edit the file:

    /includes/modules/shipping/zones.php

And read the instructions to set the zones for additional zones ...

Now install the zones Shipping Module and it will make your additional zones for you ...
