Attributes controller not working correctly

I'm trying to add a drop down box to products, however the attribute editor will only add radio buttons with *all buttons checked*. I have deleted the old option names and Option values, reloaded new ones and it still goes back to teh radio buttons and all buttons checked. I've been fighting this for 3 days now. Any ideas why this is happening? I can certainly give someone access to my admin to check it out.

I would suggest making "pre-buy" the option-name, and make half-pound, one-pound, two-pound be the option-values. Then you could have those display as checkboxes or as a pulldown.

Right now, you're treating them all as separate names with only a single value linked to them... thus they "must" be radio-buttons.
