Hello,
I just successfully installed 1.3.0.2 in my "sandbox" store, to check it out before applying the update to my main site.
I have a coupon that is restricted to 1 category. The category is also duplicated inside another category, but there are no other sub-categories inside it. Both of those categories the coupon is "allowed" [green light.]
On checkout, if the coupon is used, the discount is applied to all items in the sale, not only the "allowed" items.
In my main store, the workaround I had to do was to deliberately EXCLUDE all other categories, to get it to work correctly.
I had assumed (I thought, reasonably) that "what is not permitted is forbidden" would hold for coupon creation, but it appears that the reverse is the case. If a restriction is not denied, it is, by default, allowed.
Is there a fix for this that I can apply separately?
Is there a file I should double- and triple-check in my 1.3.0.2 update that should have fixed this issue?
Or, is this how coupon creation is meant to work, end of story?
It does make an ugly discount lookup for the customer, if they plug in a coupon code, they not only see what categories it applies to, but they also see all the other categories, monotonously repeated, as not applying. Try coupon code 04CKTH06 in my online bookstore to see.
Other than that, I'm happy with the update.
