Error in group discount calculation at checkout

I have a problem with group discount being calculated incorrectly on checkout. The discount is being calculated on the value including VAT and then deducted from the value excluding VAT.

Example:-
Product price = 2750.00 ex. VAT
Group discount = 25%
VAT = 14% (South Africa)
Shipping is free

What I see is:-

Sub-Total: R2750.00
Store Pickup (Walk In): R0.00
Group Discount: -R783.75
V.A.T.: R288.75

Total: R2255.00

Discount should be 2750.00 *.25 = 687.50

What I expect to see is:-

Sub-Total: R2750.00
Store Pickup (Walk In): R0.00
Group Discount: -R687.50
V.A.T.: R288.75

Total: R2351.25

Is there an error or am I doing something wrong? I am using version 1.3.0

I would recommend upgrading to v1.3.0.2 before trying to address this issue ...

Note: the changed v1.3.0.2 is *not* meant for upgrading from v1.3 ... that is only for upgrading from v1.3.0.1 ...

Backup both your database and website ...

Then make a test directory such as /new_shop and load a copy of your current site ...

Then make a new database and load a copy of your current database ...

Change the paths and database in the /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php to your test directory and test database ...

Use these to perform your upgrade ... and test the upgrade to ensure that it works ...

This way you are starting with the current version of Zen Cart and not one that needs upgrading ...

Hi I found exactly the same thing...

In admin got to modules - order total - group discount
here you can select to include tax or not.

Thanks for the help, that solved the problem.

I finally got 1.3.0.2 installed as Linda suggested, and restored the database from my original setup.

Now I get a message that I should patch the database, but I am struggling to find more info.

OK! It's me again.

I found the database upgrade option in zc_install and everything is looking great so far.
