Peek in the Configuration ... Email Options ...
You should see a setting for:
Make sure it was not scrambled ...Convert currencies for Text emails
What currency conversions do you need for Text emails?
Default = £,£:€,€

Just for anybody in the future:
Go to Configuration - > Email Options ->Convert currencies for Text emails
Edit it
You might see£,£:€,€
As Ajeh said, it should beChange it to that.£,£:€,€
I've no idea why is is set to £,£:€,€ !!!
