Mutually Exclusive Products - How To?

    Hi everyone!

I'm wondering if it's possible to have the following scenario happen:
If I have product A and product B in my catalog and I put product A in my cart I DON'T want to be able to also put product B? Is this doable?

Company I work for is selling admission tickets to a consumer show and seminar tickets (seminars are part of the show) that also include an admission - so I don't want a customer to be able to add an admission ticket AND a seminar ticket since the cost of the seminar ticket already covers an admission.

Can someone please tell me if there's a setting of some sort in admin or, where I would need to hack to code?

    Thank You!

I realize I can but I really want to make this 'idiot-proof' and not allow a customer to put product B in if product A is in the cart. If it could display a little warning message upon such attempt - that would be the best!

    Thanks for replying Linda!

That was why I was wondering if the Product were the same product with attributes controlling the type of ticket if that might not help prevent unintentional or mistaken orders of both the Seminar & Show vs Admission only as it would be for the same event ...

I understand what you're trying to say - the only problem is that there will be mutliple seminars throughout the show and people might get confused. It looks like I'll have to do some hacking or (worst case) duplicate the whole cart.

    Thanks anyways!

You could get tricky and build a database of products to look up and see what products cannot be purchased together and incorporate that into a stop on the order ... before checkout can occure ...
