    Default Installation Woes

    Hi.
I'm really new to this. I'm trying to install zencart but can't seem to get it right. I've changed required filenames and access codes. The next step is installation.
I've typed in the recommended address ex. http://www.mydomain.com/catalog but all I see "site not found" !! Do I need to "upload" or "publish" the changes I've made, or is that done automatically? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Please be specific. I'm learning as I go.
    Thanks!!!

I've tried that, and every other extension I could think of. I copied all the zecart files to a folder entitled "catalog". Therefore, I believe the correct address for installing should be: http://www.probikebuilds.com/catalog/zc_iinstall/ .
Does that make sense? What am I overlooking? Where are you in Texas? I'm east of Dallas.

It looks as though you put the 'catalog' folder in the wrong place. The root folder varies with each server type so look for a folder called something like httpdocs, or htdocs, or public_html, or just html and make sure the catalog folder is loaded there.

Yes! Great advise! Very clear and easy for me to understand. It looks like it's going to work. Mind if I contact you with future questions?

No, don't mind - as long as there aren't too many.

Why am I "on apache"? Is that a unix program? How do I switch to a windows based program?
Hope these are all the questions.
    Thanks

If you click on the link you gave in the #3 post, you'll see
    Apache/1.3.36 Server at www.probikebuilds.com Port 80
    at the bottom.

You are running windows but your host is running Apache. Nothing to worry about or change in that regard.

You do need to consider where you want the store to go. Right now, there is nothing on your site at www.probikebuilds.com If you do not plan on putting up a "front" for the store, you will need to move the files in catalog to the probikebuilds.com root directory or put a redirect in the root if you are concerned about messing up the current settings.
