Layout Boxes Controller Not Functioning

Hi all,

I installed Zen Cart 1.3.0.2 and some mods like ezpages and admin profiles. I have also been playing around with a new template and adding greek to the family of languages that Zen supports.

Everything was going smoothly till at some point the Layout Boxes Controller stopped functioning. No matter what I do I see no changes in my pages. Even going back to classic or adding new templates won;t do anything, it looks as if the changes are going through.

Any ideas? I have put a lot of (undocumented) work in it and I would hate to have to start from the beginning.

In doing all your work, did you use the override system for your changed files?

If so post back for additional assistance, If not can you determine all the filees that you have altered? (only the ones that are in the standard folders from a clean install & not your added language folders), and place these altered files in override folders that you will create.

I have used the override system for my template. But I am not 100% certain of all the changes I have made especially since I have installed a number of mods (admin_profiles_v1_0_3, google_adsense, image_handler__for_vx_2.0, languagecurrency_links_in_header_1.0, multilanguage_ezpages_1.0.1).

Unfortunately the only functionality that is not working is the layout boxes controller. Anyway, I was hoping that it would be something obvious to the gurus. Sorry to waste your time I think that it is going to be faster going with a fresh install :-(

Have you configure to use the correct template(s) in Admin?

Since you have two languages, check to ensure that each language with its correct settings.
And each language has its own layout boxes configuration.

Before setting the layout, frist select /change to the desire language first.
In Admin Home page, the upper left hand corner,
=> Define Language: (EN - English) - select the desired language.

Then configure the Layout Boxes Controller for EN - English Language.


And again, In Admin Home page, the upper left hand corner,
=> Define Language: (GR - ) - select the desired language.

Then configure the Layout Boxes Controller for the GR Language.

All I had to do was to apply all the changes in the Layout Controller in greek. Then only it worked for both languages...

I think this could be considered a bug, unless I messed up something. What happens is: if I change the boxes layout in english (admin defined language) then nothing happens, if I make the changes in greek it works. Even if the changes are not the same in both languages the ones I have applied in greek are the ones valid. I believe that the right way would be to either have the changes apply in any of the two languages or have the ability to apply specific layouts for each language.

Anyway, zen cart is amazing.
