    Default Deleting products off list

I'm in my product list and its saying that I have to delete the item from the master list before trying to delete for the category list. Where is the Master list? Everytime I try to delete in the category list it won't delete?

How do you delete products from the list?

Products belong to a Master Category ...

When Linked, and you want to delete the Product from that Master Category you need to change who the master_categories_id is ...

Go to the Catalog ... Product Listing ...

Click on C for Copy ... then on the Master Categories Manager ...

Change the master_categories_id from the Category you want to delete to a different categories_id to be the new master_categories_id

I don't have a Products listing under catagories. I only have product types and products price manager.

Why is it so difficult to delete an item? What if I just go to the items I want to delete and erase and information from the text boxes?

    Go to the Catalog ... Categories/Products ...

Find the Category of the Product to delete ...

Find the Product in the list ...

Click the X for delete ...

    This is not hard ...

Note if you try to delete a Product from its Master Category ...

First, change the Master Category for the Product ... this can be done by editing the Product or by using the Master Categories Link Manager when you hit C for Copy ... a button will read Master Categories Link Manager ...

    Click that ...

You will see the Product and all Categories that it is Linked to as well as its Master Category ...

Just change which Category is consider the "owner" or Master Category for the Product ...

then delete the Product from the Category you want to remove it from ...

In the Master Categories Link Manager you will see Checkboxes on each Category that it belongs to ...

Uncheck a box and hit Update Category Links ...

    All done ...

I don't know what you mean by hit c for copy. where would I do that? I don't see any masters anything. I have deleted all the boxes for one item to be deleted but I can't get rid of the image.

Why is there a delete button on the product list that should delete the item but when you click it nothing happens.

    Please explain. Thanks

    Let's go slow ...

You are in your Zen Cart Admin ... as in your Store Admin ...

You go to the menubar and under Catalog ... pick Categories/Products ...

You will see Categories listed ... find the Category that the Product is in and click on it ...

Now you see the Products Listed ...

On the right side of the screen are the icons:

    E - for Edit

    X - for Delete

    M - for Move

    C- Copy

    A - Attributes

    $ - Products Price Manager

Black/Orange Biohazard - Meta Tags (Black not customize) (Orange customized)

To Delete a Product you would hit X for Delete ...
    Warning: On Linked Products
1 Make sure the Master Category has been changed if you are deleting the Product from the Master Category
2 Check the checkbox for the Category to Delete the Product from
Check the box for the Category or Categories from which to delete the Product ... and click Delete button ...

However, if you are trying to Delete a Product that is Linked, and you want to Delte it from the its Master Category ... you must first reset the Master Category to something else ...

The Master Category is in RED so it stands out ...

You can change the Master Category by either Editing the Product with the E or going to the Master Categories Link Manager at the bottom of the C for Copy and then read the instructions in there to delete ...

Now, if you have an old Zen Cart v1.3 and did not upgrade to v1.3.0.2 you will not be able to delete properly ...
