Subcategories always showing in sidebox

Hello,

I want to have both the categories and subcategories showing in the categories sidebox at all times.

I found an old thread from more than a year ago discussing this http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...+subcategories that said zencart is not created in this way, but I am wondering if anything has changed since then?

The reason I have this need is that my client is selling medication for Cats and Dogs. The same types of medication is available for each animal, so it would be beneficial to have the main category showing Cat -> Flea and Tick Medication and Dog -> Flea and Tick Medication.

If this is not possible, and suggestions for a different way to lay this out other than naming each category with the word cat or dog in it?
