Default Site integration - keeping user logged in

I want users to be able to go to /my_page_that_has_nothing_to_do_with_zencart.php and back to zencart without being logged off. I take it that I need to add some code for this, or else zen session will expire... right?

How long of a side trip?? the session will not immediately cease...you should and can create a link back on your other site.

it's the client who wants unique fancy pages for some categories. I think you're right though, even if I will renew session in the page, user session might time out, so it is only 50% worse to take a chance and hope that he won't stay there for more than few seconds.

This is not a seconds issue but more like 30 minutes if I recall correctly.

    Session timeout is 24 minutes.

With an advanced understanding of Zen Cart functionality, you could create dedicated pages within Zen Cart to handle specific information and perhaps integrate category/product-listing functionality within them. As a preliminary start, you could grab the "About Us" contribution and follow its example for creating dedicated pages. You could then work on a creative way to bring in a dynamic list of sub-cat/product details onto that page if that's needed.

Or you could just do a require of application_top.php on your static PHP page to keep the session active. Has to be a .php file, not a .html file unless you change your webserver configuration to parse html files as php by default.
