Default Getting back on the right track

My website was design with 1.25 I believe.

Anyhow, Template overide as been been done correctly, and since I have used and modified original files instead of using the overirde system.

Is there any special procedure I should go about, to correct this ?

    Regards,

Download a clean set of files for 1.2.5 to your PC in like /zen_new...FTP from your host the files for your current shop to like /zen_current.

Using a file comparator like beyond compare,(ZC's favorite) or winmerge perform a batch compare for all or by folder to define files that are different than the original core files. If they are not files that are in your override folders then it is these files that you should then on the host set, place in your override areas and replace the file in the core location with the clean copy.

This way you have in your override folders the edited files and then the upgrade will not cause you to loose these edits. Upgrading any time, One needs to then compare their edited files to those of the upgrade core files and merge these files so that your edited files contain any revised/new code from the new version.

    Hi Kobra,

    Thanks for the reply.

I need a small clarification, if zen was install with 1.25 but since it has been upgradedto latest 1.3.0.2, do I still compare with 1.25 or the latest ?

You did not indicate that this had been upgraded???

If you have upgraded and did not make a backup...any core files that you edited are now gone...How does your site render???are the things that you want correct?

If so then maybe there was not something important that you edited in a core file???

Edited files should be located in a custom template folder that you name and create in all locations that there is a classic folder

    Ok,

So any files that have been edited, I should make a copy in a dir same name as template ?

Then , I could upload the latest zen-cart overwriting files, and it should still work ?

If so, ill be doing this in a copy dir of my shop.

From your post you stated that it was currently version 1.3.0.2 and this is the latest...

If you are going to do this to a copy...also create a separate DB for this copy...
