Is there a way to set it so if they buy 2 of something, they get it for a set price?

You may wish to look at the Catalog ... Product Price Manager ...

NOTE: this is also reached via the $ when looking at the Categories/Products ...

Find your Product ... Click Edit ... Click Add 5 blank discounts ...

Select how you want to make the discount(s) from the dropdown ...

Next set the Quantity then the Amount based on the type of discount you selected ...

will that make it so if you order just 2 pair of that 1 shoe, you get the discount or 2 of any shoe? we're going for 2 of any pairs of shoes?

The Products Price Manager is setting discounts for a given Product ...

All discounts are on a per Product basis and each Product can have 0 - unlimited qty discounts ...

However, at this time, it is not designed to manage multiple Products as being related to the discount ...

So 2 of Product A can be discounted, but 1 of Product A and 1 of Product B are not related so they cannot be discounted ...

This allows you to do 2 for 1 with mixed products.
