Default Upgraded, but can't find my database

    Hi,

Over time, I've made a bit of a mess of my store, learning ZenCarts secrets. So now, I wanted to clean up by completely reinstalling the lastest version of ZenCart. Of course I made a copy of both my (old) store and the database. Then I just deleted the store from my host server and not the database. That all went smoothly. I managed to add my themes, language files etc.

But now my store is somehow not finding my database, which I never removed. During installation, I gave it the exact same name as before, so it would directly access it after I'd finished installing.

    Anyone know?

    Thanks!

    Jeroen

Do you have a URL, or some info on the errors you are getting/what's happening?

The URL is www.buchlibooks.com. I'm getting no errors, but nothing that resembles something in my database either. It's as if it's been erased :-( or accessing a different database altogether.

    Thanks!

Which version of zen were you upgrading from?

Did you run the database upgrade(s)?

You've got some language defines not being found, plus your site is still using the old stylesheet. Did you upload all of the files for the new install?

From 1.2.x, but it wasn't a real upgrade as I started from scratch.

I guess not. How can I do this now?

I think so. What could be missing?

    Thanks again,

    Jeroen

Take a look at the upgrading/install readme's that came with your download of zen 1.3.5 in the /docs folder - you will need to run the installer and choose 'database upgrade'.

Ok, although it says that my database seems to be version 1.3.5. I tried to run it anyway, but it came up with this error: "mysql SQL Install file does not exist".

However, there IS a file "zc_install/sql/mysql_zencart.sql"?!?!?!

    Any thoughts?

I'd suggest you start again with a fresh install of 1.3.5 on a stock zen 1.3.5 database and make sure that works Ok. Then change your config files to point to your live database (which you've already upgraded) and see if that works Ok. Then begin adding your template(s) and overrides, etc.

By the way, your server has 'safe mode = on'. As the installer says, zen doesn't run too well with that. You may want to ask your host if it's possible for you to turn that off for your account in your htaccess or php.ini file.

Ok, safe mode = off and the installer goes smoothly.

    Works perfectly.

Which config-files, besides includes/configuration.php and admin/includes/configuration.php? Because after changing them I'm getting this message:

    1146 Table 'buchli_books_135.zen_db_cache' doesn't exist
    in:
    [select * from zen_db_cache where cache_entry_name = 'zc_7eb4ed1f36d90140477d9474b61e0e26']
    Feels like I'm almost there!

    Thanks,

    Jeroen

Presumably your database is called' buchli_books_135'?

Do you have a prefix on that table of 'zen_'? (check what the database table is actually called with phpMyAdmin).
