Having finally gotten a custom product type field to show up in the index listings of Products by Category, I've somehow messed up the filter that should be applied when someone clicks a manufacturer name in the manufacturers dropdown: All products are listed.
I've searched through the tools->Developers Toolbox for where that might be happening, and am at a loss.
Is the trouble in the product_type_filter in includes/index_filters? Since categories are fine, and only manufacturers are messed up (and filters on the custom fields are showing up nowhere at all -- guess I'd have to set up a dropdown to select those from, if I wanted them), I can't see how that file could have done it. Also, the custom filter file doesn't get used for those pages, apparently (I couldn't get my custom field into the index listings until I changed the default_filter.php file).
Is the trouble in includes/modules/products_all/header.php? I looked all over with no light bulbs going off.

Drill down by category and all is well. Click a manufacturer and you'll get all 60-ish products instead of just that one manufacturer.
FYI the custom field is 'model_year' in the 'products_auto_extra' table.
Hope some kind person will point me in the right direction. If I should post this in a different forum, let me know. Since it all started with a product type, figured I'd start here.
