Odd character in checkout page

1 step page: /index.php?main_page=checkout_shipping ----layout is normal.

2 step page: /index.php?main_page=checkout_payment ----- ?> will show on the top left corner and all the layout will mess up.

3 step page: /index.php?main_page=checkout_confirmation ---- layout is back to normal again.

What happen?? Please help.

If your files are in UTF-8 encoding, check every file and make sure that you don't have the BOM added.

Reference about BOM.
Utf-8 Problem

You may also have extraneous code in one of your files.

Which one? who knows.

Perhaps sharing a URL might help ... or at least the View Source code from your browser...

Worst case, do this:

Thanks Seethrou and DrByte.

At first, I also think about the utf problem. Both problem pages (/index.php?main_page=checkout_payment) are utf-8 , one with traditional chinese and another with simplified chinese. The english one do not have problem.

However, actually everything is alright when the cart is in 1.3.0.2 version. After I upgraded my cart from 1.3.0.2 to 1.3.5, it happened strangely because I used Notepad++ to add the upgrade part and saved in utf without BOM. For files' utf-8 format, all are changed by a software called ConvertZ.

Sorry that I don't have online url now. A source code of the traditional chinese page is as follows: NB the ?> appear at the top left corner--------STRANGE!

If it only happens in chinese mode, then it is likely that one of your language files contains the extra ?> at the end of the file.

I FIX THE PROBLEM. The extra ?> appeared at the end of the includes/languages/chinese_utf/modules/payment/cc.php
