Are there any geographic zones (ie: provinces) that are standard official divisions of Australia, esp related to postal issues, and which everyone understands?
If so, you could create them in Admin->Localization/Taxes->Zones

Thanks for the hint. I had no idea what I was looking for.
Thank you doctor

Are these 8 zones "standard" and hardly-ever-change?

Dr. I have one one question.. its just came to me
We have one tax for the whole country so zones aren;t really relevant. Can just have one zone and apply a tax for that zone only?
For example if I create , would it work ? Do I need individual zones entered to make zen work?
How should I do it?

No mate, it will be the other way around...
However back to the real problem at hand, we do have the same situation here in NZ and I haven't been able to get my head around this either. I have broken NZ down into it's 18 country zones, although couriers here only have 3 zones, and then we have a nationwide rate for small packages.
my nationwide rate appears, but nothing else seems to come up on the other zones where they are over 1.5kg... so do I need to add all the towns to the area zones to get them to register for shipping?
