How important is upgrade?

Hi.

I curently run on version 1.3.0.2.

Been using for just over a week, learning lots and have customised to a certain degree.

I have got the new version zip file, but looking through the upgrade instructions and forums, Im a little concerned I will lose all the wotk I have done.

My host is Wesh, and as I am new to all this uploading and file directories etc, so is it really necesssary to upgrade?
I really am not sure where to save files, upload them etc. and dont want to mess things up.

Would I be wise staying at my current version? Or should I take a chance and try to upgrade?

Take the upgrade one step at a time- You are going to have to learn how to do it at some point. Rule number one: BACKUP!!!

Hi.

I have dowloaded filezilla, created a directory called 'demo' (as instructed in docs) and managed to upload file:
zen-cart-v1.3.5-full-fileset-09042006.

So my directory now reads /demo/zen-cart-v1.3.5-full-fileset-09042006.

The next thing on the instructions says:"and install the new version into a separate database,"

How do I do this?

My host is Wesh and I installed my original version 1.3.02 through fantastico.

This is NO walk in the park, unless your are really familiar with FTP and how different hosting companies operate.
