I began using Stamps.com, which worked pretty well when it worked. They had support & software issues which may be better now. I did receive a notice a few weeks ago that a major bug reported in Nov 2012 was finally corrected.
I switched to ShipStation.com and things have been problem free for the past couple of years. More options. Filtering and rules are customizable. Includes Endicia and Express1 USPS accounts which can be used interchangeably. Express1 has better rates for Priority Mail than Endicia but Endicia has better rates for other services. Both have the full USPS product selection available for use.
ShipStation also incorporates your UPS and/or Fedex accounts.
It automatically imports orders and has the option to "Update" when you click the button. Stamps.com updated but there was no user control over an 'on-demand' order update.
If you are shipping 20 packages a day, the labor savings will more than offset the fee for the basic account. Like any new software package, there is a learning curve but I didn't find it too steep. You can reprint labels more than once if you have a glitch. Stamps.com only allows 1 retry. PlainPaper 8.5x11, self-adhesive 8.5x11 or most 4x6 label printers.
