    Default Attribute Control

    Hi readers,

We're hoping someone can help us further with this Attribute requirement ;)

We have added an attribute as follows:

    1. [FIELD TYPE: Drop Down box]: Logo Added to T-Shirt
    [Yes Style 1]
    [Yes Style 2]
    [Yes Style 3]
    [No]

    2. [FIELD TYPE: Drop Down box]: Logo Type
    [Logo1 + 0.25]
    [Logo2 + 0.50]
    [Logo3 + 0.75]

    Notes:

Therefore if a customer select YES they want a Logo on a T-Shirt then they MUST select a Logo Type.

If the customer had select NO then we dont want them to have to select a Logo Type (or better still for that Attribute not to show up!)

We have been thinking about coding a Javascript solution to get this to work but wondered if anyone knows of a standard Zen option.

    Many thanks

Thinking about this, why would you not do it this way:

Setup an attribute name of "Logo" with attribute values of:
    Style 1
    Style 2
    Style 3
You then configure the attributes for the price increment
Provide as radio buttons or a dropdown

Customer either purchases the base item (no Logo) or selects one of the styles.

Does'nt this provide what you want?

Creating an Option of "Please choose" and mark Used For
Display Purposes Only as Yes and Default Attribute
to be Marked Selected as Yes will mean that the customer gets an error message if they do not make a selection.

Add that to Kobra's solution (not forgetting a No thanks option).

Ryk's suggestion is a way to force the customer to make a selection of some type and if this is more to your liking, as he stated, provide the "no Thanks" option as one more attribute.

The original method allows the item to be purchased without any optional additions, or allows the customer to select one of the options that you provide.

It has been noted for some shops that forcing a selection is preferable to prevent the customer from thinking that they are getting a logo item when it has not been selected. This is at your option as to what and how you implement this.

This is normally used where one must specify say a color and you do not want them to be able to process out and not know what color they actually wanted.
