Idea or Suggestion Complete Template Rewrite WIP

I'm currently writing a complete new template (HTML and CSS) for Zen Cart 1.3.5, it's a work in progress which is why I've started a new thread for it, as I would like to be able to receive feedback as I progress.

You can view it now, here: http://www.rowanw.com/zencart/1-3-5/

So far I've completed the overall general layout and I'm starting on individual pages, below is a short list of areas I've already modified to fit my design:
    - Side Box, header and footer templates
    - Main page template
    - Advanced Search page
    - Login page
    - My Account page
    - Order Information page
    - Page numbering

I plan to retain much of the original functionality and options from the admin, however there are some things, such as side column widths that should only be left to the stylesheet.

I'm doing this because I think there's too much unnecessary markup in the default template, and the layout structure isn't as good as it could be.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please voice them here, I'm eager to get any type of feedback you have.

That's because they're all in separate divs, when they should simply be next to each other.

I haven't even started with those yet.

The login page is all messed up (the form/s is all the way down, lot of space until I can see it).

Why the New products are listed 1 by row? too much space wasted.

On the product list and new products page happens the same that on login page, lots of space until I can see the list.

All this is in IE (there are other details but looks like you are working now on your css).

The color and concept look great, BTW I love your Mostly Grey template.

I just checked in IE6 and the login page looks fine to me, the 'my account' page was bumped down the bottom though. I know that IE6 has a big issue with pushing the content down below the side boxes, it's normally trivial to fix that though.

I haven't made it there yet.

What version of IE are you using? And why are you using IE?

Thanks for those points, keep it coming.

Ok, I see now... you are on 1024 resolution. Yes, the login page looks ok on that resolution but even all the other pages mentioned still messed up.

    IE 6.0.2800

And why are you using IE?
Well, I always look first from the point of view of shoppers, and even FF it's great and I love it, we have to admit that IE is the most used browser.

    Ohhhh, bugger.

I didn't realise it did that in IE, it looks like a bigger problem than I thought, I'll wait for a while and see if a simple solution comes out of thin air. The IE hacks can be applied afterwards usually.
