    Idea or Suggestion upgrade bugs?

    hello

i attempted to upgrade my installed zencart from:
    zen-cart-v1.2.6d-full-release-with-security-patch.zip

    to:
    zen-cart-v1.3.5-full-fileset-09042006.zip

    so v125 to v135

I got the normal install screen and went throught the updated db stuff etc.

Now when a client clicks "log yourself in" from the normal looking index page the next page is corrupted under the "Your Address" section, here are the following errors and the screen is stretched (missing right bar):

Warning: main(DIR_WS_BLOCKSblk_address_format_us.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/httpd/x/x/httpdocs/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_login_default.php on line 194

Warning: main(DIR_WS_BLOCKSblk_address_format_us.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/httpd/x/x/httpdocs/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_login_default.php on line 194

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'DIR_WS_BLOCKSblk_address_format_us.php' (include_path='/usr/share/psa-horde:/usr/share/psa-horde/pear:.') in /home/httpd/x/x/httpdocs/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_login_default.php on line 194

    What have i done wrong?

Also when i login to admin section, it still says:
"New Version Available V1.3.5 :: New Release with Important Security Fixes Download Here"

Obviously this is a failed upgrade, how do i repair?

    many thanks.

Did you backup both your site and database?

Did you load all the new files from Zen Cart v1.3.5?

Did you run the /zc_install and Upgrade your database?

NOTE: It is best not to upgrade a Live Site

    Backup the database

    Backup the Live site

Create a copy of your Live Site in /new_shop

Create a new database with a copy of your Live database ...

Edit the /new_shop/includes/configure.php and /new_shop/admin/includes/configure.php to adjust the Path to /new_shop and the database to your new database, username and password

Copy all of Zen Cart v1.3.5 to /new_shop

Run the /new_shop/zc_install and Upgrade your database

Test that all is working first ...

Once your /new_shop site works 110% perfect ... set the Live Site Down for Maintenance ...

Backup the Live Site database again ...

Drop all the tables for the /new_shop database and load the current Live site database into the /new_shop database

Run the /new_shop/zc_install again and upgrade the database ...

Now the database is 100% current on the 110% working /new_shop site ...

Edit the /new_shop/includes/configure.php and /new_shop/admin/includes/configure.php to adjust the Path from /new_shop to your Live Shop directory ...

Do NOT change the database name, username and password ... this will be your new Live Shop database ... save your old one incase of problems ...

Rename the Live Shop directory /old_shop ...

Rename the /new_shop to the name of your Live Shop directory

    Test everything ...

When all is working 125% perfect ... you are good to go and can take your new Live shop off of Down for Maintenance ...

I am not entirely sure what you mean here, the extracted zip to overwrite the /new_shop ? or?

yeah, that was very important but the paths already there were a bit tricky to edit.

testing is important, but so is ease of install/upgrade, but u get what you pay for!

I actually completed the rest of the task based on my own mistakes and corrected them by reading a few things properly (reading does help stop errors).
A fresh install is complete and i will work out how to backup databases and implement them into the new site.

I believed that when i installed the latest version it would auto overwrite the older site.
This is my overlooked problem and ignorance.
Hence when i logged into admin section it still told me to update it! Now its fully updated and got a green coat of paint as a bonus.

It would help if somewhere was an option to place the current running version number in the admin section near the "Check for Updates" button.
Also a date when it was last updated would be useful too.

MANY MANY thanks for your excellent help Ajeh and I appreciate your time in helping a zenny noob like me.

    thank you.

The "Version" link in the header bar, right under the "check for updates" button, shows you all that information directly. And you probably won't have to scroll to see any of it...
