Default Zone Rates Shipping does not read table

I'm using 1.2.7 ZenCart (can't upgrade because of bugs in needed contributions) and I can't seem to get a very simple zone rate to work in the Shipping module.

I want one zone (US) and shipping based on price. I followed the instructions in the FAQ and can't get it to work. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.ph...g_zones_module

I'm selling heavy furniture. So to test, I want up to $500 is $50 shipping, up to $1000 is $100 shipping. (I'll refine the list later. I hope.)
    Here's what I did.
Admin > Modules > Shipping > Zone Rates

I installed the module. No other modules are installed.
    Enable Zones Method: true
    Calculator Method: price
    Tax Class: -none-
    Tax Basis: shipping
    Sort Order: 0
    Zone 1 Countries: US
    Zone 1 Shipping Table: 500:50.00,1000:100.00
    Zone 1 Handling Fee:0
    Zone 2 Countries:
    Zone 2 Shipping Table:
    Zone 2 Handling Fee:0
    Zone 3 Countries:
    Zone 3 Shipping Table:
    Zone 3 Handling Fee:0

When I put a $700 sofa in my shopping cart, the shipping shows $50. No matter what I put in my shopping cart, higher or lower, the shipping is always only $50. It appears that only the first entry in my Shipping Table is being processed.

Is there a setting somewhere else in Admin that I need to mofify?

As far as Zones are concerned, I have one tax zone configured New Jersey Enterpirse Tax Zone at 3.5% (special rate for businesses in certain areas of the state). I'm not sure if tax Zones have anything to do with shipping Zones.

I appreciate any help you can offer. It seems like I'm trying to do the simpliest thing, and it won't work.

Re: Zone Rates Shipping does not read table

I had a brainstorm, but that wasn't the answer either. I'll tell you what I tried.

Since I'm trying to charge shipping based on price, I thought about my pricing scheme. My products are priced based on attributes. When I enter a product I enter the price as zero, price based on attributes. Then in the attributes controller, I put the full price for each attribute: sofa is 499.95, chair is 299.95. I also leave out the plus sign (in the attributes controller) because I don't want it to print.

So I thought maybe I should put the plus signs back in. It didn't work.

Then I thought maybe I should price the product at 299.95 in product input page, but in the attribute controller, enter the chair at +0.00 and the sofa at +200. That didn't work either.

I've never used the table or zone shipping method before, and I can't get either of them to see past the first entry in the table. I have no spaces in the list. Only the colon(:), comma(,), and decimal point(.). I tried removing the .00 and that didn't work either. Has this module ever worked? Has anybody had success? I tried it in a clean install of 1.2.7 and it didn't work there either. To those who use it, does it at least look like I am doing the right thing?

I've used free shipping and UPS shipping in the past, and they worked fine. I hope somebody can shed some light on this.

    Thanks in advance.
