Default Adding pages to Information sidebox

    Hi,
Is there a straight-forward, admin way to add links/pages to the Information sidebox?

Payment methods is one page I'd like to add, after Shipping & Returns. From what I've seen, if I use EZPages it creates pages in a different sidebox. This isn't very tidy IMO, all this relevant info would best be in a single sidebox.

I've searched the forum and have come across a mod (about us) and a method to alter some core files to add a page to the Information sidebox. I'd prefer to avoid both ways as our store is very customized and mod-laden as it is, making every new upgrade (the one from 1.30.2 to 1.3.5) comes to ming a very labor-intensive process.

Am I trying to eat my cake and have it too?

Sorry, but to do what you want will require these edits and using the about us mod as a guide is proper. If you are using the overrides as intended, this should limit the # of giles that require cross checking on an upgrade. Still a task, I know.

If you find some of that "Cake", please share.

I too was looking for a way through the admin pages in order to add/remove links from the information box. Would be a nice addition to the next rls? hehe

Adding new pages as the original poster wanted is far different than add/remove links.

In the admin > config > Define Page Status > are several switches for just that purpose and other items in their respective areas.

My answer is the same...this function exists to toggle pages via the admin as stated.

    Kobra,

Excuse me, i'm not trying to come off as argumentative but your posts are very confusing and I don't think you understand what we are asking for since you have responded to the same inquires with 2 seperate answers.

    First you stated:

    Now you say...

nkostaki, correct me if i'm wrong... but we are both trying to determine if there is an area within the admin section to simply select what links show in the information box (add/remove links). Say for instance, we don't want "Gift certificate FAQ" link but instead wanted a google link in it's place.

Your suggestion, kobra, is helpful if we were wanting to change the text of those pages... but that's not what we are trying to accomplish. I hope this clears up the confusion, and I do appreciate your responses and apologize if the original posts weren't straight forward the first time around.

You can disable the information sidebox and just add the links to the ez pages sidebox. that way they are all in one place and all in the admin

    Merlinpa1969,

That's definetely an alternative solution, and i'll use that.

Suggestion for a future rls, to be able to add/remove links in the information box through the ez pages as well would be a cool addition.

Thanks again for the responses, you guys are awesome.

    Just to clarify something.

the admin -> configuration -> Define Page Status

controls the way these pages behave throught zen cart including whether or not they appear in the information sidebox using the following settings:

0= Link ON, Define Text OFF
1= Link ON, Define Text ON
2= Link OFF, Define Text ON
3= Link OFF, Define Text OFF

Turning off the Gift Certificate faq depends on whether you have installed the Gift Certificate option in admin -> modules -> order total.

To add your own link to the information sidebox - you will have to edit the following file in includes/modules/sideboxes/information.php and include whatever link you choose.

You can also do as Merlinpa1969 has suggested and use internal links (or not) in EZ pages.
