Freeshipper is overriding all shipping costs

Hello's!

I'm not sure where to look to check configuration for this.

I sell several virtual products in my online bookstore. Those items, of course, rely on Freeshipper, which is enabled.

When those items are in an order along with regular, shippable items, the shipping cost for the total order is 0, and no other shipping methods display.

I am using MZMT (MultiGeoZone MultiTable) mod for domestic shipping, and a modified USPS module that adds S&H percentage based on total value for international shipping.

Here's my freeshipper settings:

Free Shipping Cost
0.00

Handling Fee
0

You can try this out in my online store: put any book in your cart (they all have weights) and then add this item, a downloadable, purchaseable PDF:

That item's shipping is configured this way:

Product is Virtual: [X] Yes, Skip Shipping Address [ ] No, Shipping Address Required
Warning: This product is marked - Free Shipping and Skips Shipping Address
No shipping will be requested when all products in the order are Virtual Products

Always Free Shipping: [ ] Yes, Always Free Shipping [X] No, Normal Shipping Rules
[ ] Special, Product/Download Combo Requires a Shipping Address

Its weight is 0.

I have a free downloadable PDF also, but that one does not interfere with applying correct shipping charges to the rest of an order.

I'm wondering if this should go into bug reports. I see the same behavior in link->my sandbox.

Is there anyone selling virtual products alongside regular pay-for-shipping products in 1.3.5?

The Free Shipping freeshipper Shipping Module is designed specifically to do just that ...

The Free Shipping freeshipper only shows by itself when the whole shipping cost is $0.00 based on things such as the shopping cart is Always Free Shipping ... or the Shipping is based on weight where 0 weight means Free Shipping ...

When that shows, the other shipping modules do not ...

When the other shipping modules show, the Free Shipping freeshipper does not show ...

You will want to look instead for an alternative method ...

Free Shipping Options freeoptions Shipping Module is designed to show at the same time as the other Shipping Modules as an alternative method such as ...

You might want to use UPS but still offer Free Shipping to your customers ... or only offer it when the order is over $100 but still show the UPS prices ...

If a whole order is Virtual then that automatically does Free Shipping, but does not really use a Shipping Module ...

On a Mixed order of Product and Virtual, then the installed Shipping Modules are used ...

If you have no products_weight and 0 weight does NOT mean Free Shipping, you need to turn that OFF in the Shipping/Packaging ...

If 0 weight DOES mean Free Shipping then you need to turn that ON in the Shipping/Packaging ...

Hmm... I don't understand. If I remove freeshipper module, I get "Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time." when a virtual product with 0 weight and normal shipping rules is in an order. So, I have to use freeshipper to cover this type of item, no?

When there are items which HAVE weight and normal shipping rules in a cart along with a virtual product with 0 weight, free shipping applies erroneously to the entire order (which I thought should not happen.)

If the order is all marked Product is Virtual YES ... the checkout_shipping is skipped ...

If the order has mixed products of Virtual and Physical ... then you will see the checkout_shipping page ...

If you have Products with 0 weight and 0 weight means Free Shipping, then you need the Free Shipping freeshipper installed ...

If you want to have another Shipping Module(s) plus offer Free Shipping, then you need the Free Shipping Options freeoptions installed ...

If you are still getting the message:
Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.

Then more likely you have Zones on the Shipping Module(s) and none allow the Shipping Address to qualify for the existing Shipping Module(s) ...

To test this ... install Flat Shipping Module without any Zones etc.

Do you now see Flat where before you saw the message?

I removed freeshipper and used Free Shipping Options but this makes it impossible to place an order that mixes virtual and real products.

I tried Free Shipping Options for weight <= 0 and also for total <= 0 and got Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time.

My test site now has Freeshipper OFF and Free Shipping Options ON configured this way:

If you put this item into the cart, along with real, regular shipping charge items, you get Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time. If you order either type of item alone, it works.

So, I'm not finding a way to combine virtual items and real items in a cart and get shipping costs applied only to the real items.

I just added Flat rate shipper and I still get Sorry, we are not shipping to your region at this time on mixed product orders.

What is your setting in the Shipping/Packaging for:

Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status
If there is no weight to the order, does the order have Free Shipping?
0= no
1= yes

Note: When using Free Shipping, Enable the Free Shipping Module this will only show when shipping is free.

When I set in Admin > Configuration > Shipping/Packaging to
Order Free Shipping 0 Weight Status TRUE, there's this instruction:

1= yes

Note: When using Free Shipping, Enable the Free Shipping Module 
this will only show when shipping is free.

so Freeshipper is required in order to ship 0 weight (virtual) items.

But Freeshipper is not playing nicely in the shopping cart when there are real, heavy, items, that must be shipped.
