Default Database too big to import

Having imported databses and upgraded zen happily I now have an issue of the databse from a 1.26 site being 2 big to import.

How on earth do I get this in?

have followed the usual commands have set up 1.35 have copy of database at 9.02mb empty new database table go to import and it's too big...

Help - templates etc are not importanat just need core data in - products etc

Have tried to work my way the the dev.mysql.com to find a solution but struggling with the termnology used.

    Any suggestions very welcome :-)

Do you have telnet access to your site?

    If not, you could:

1 ask your hosting company to give you telnet access

2 ask your hosting company to change the limits on the size/time of imports via phpMyAdmin

3 break your import into tiny, logical peices and import each one in order separately ...

    Hello

I did try taking in in chunks of the database but zen then didn't recognize what version it had came from and didn't offer me an upgrade on the database only reinstall.

I've been in touch with my host and fingers crossed they may even import for me...

Sorry to pick your brain further but when importing chunks I just created a new text file and brought in in about 6 bits everything went in fine but just the database upgrade was my stumbling block.

I can't use the database back up tool due to mysql restricions.

    Thanks for your advice.

Sounds like it's time to look into one of our Certified Hosting sites who understand the needs of an e-commerce site running with php and MySQL ...

They will work with you in configuring your site correctly for your needs ...

Are you sure you didn't just need to run the /zc_install on your database to upgrade the version after you got it loaded?

    Hi Misty

I think we crossed beams :-)

Thanks for that links do you find it works ok even with this

Note 1: BigDump will fail processing large tables containing extended inserts.

As the zen guide says to export with extended inserts.

Cheers - I'll maybe be very brave and give it a whirl - nothing to lose right now.

    Hi Ajeh

No I get a message saying zen recognizes a previous version but can't work out which one it is - so I only get a change to install, update confice or recheck.

I host a few zen sites with no probs just this big import has tripped me up.

Thanks again for your time & advice.

Are you sure you have your two configure.php setup properly for the new database, path etc.?

If that file is not setup correctly, or missing it thinks you want to do a NEW INSTALL vs an UPGRADE ...

Before you do anything, BACKUP everything...have used this
on zencart without problems, BUT cannot guarantee will work
    for you.
If necessary, listen to Ajeh re a new host

I don't have anything to lose - brand new - site old data - but cheers

    Ajeh

Have checked configs - cleared database and reimported in my txt chunks and get this message and no upgrade option

    Previous Zen Cart Installation Found
However, the version level of your database cannot be determined, usually resulting from wrong table prefixes, or other database settings mismatches.

CAUTION: Only use the Upgrade option if you are sure your configure.php settings are correct.

But I don't get an upgrade option only a install upgrade configs and recheck

    Any ideas.
