Can I use the per item shipping module and the USPS module at the same time?

I have all products currently calculated by weight for the USPS module.

I want to add a category of products that will have a shipping rate of $8 for the first item and $4 for each additional item purchased.

Can I have both? I'm still using v1.2.6

Yes, you can have both.

NOTE: Your per item shipping will need to be configured as $4.00 handling and $4.00 per item to get the correct rates.

Note: UPS doesn't know the difference between a products_weight for UPS and a products_weight for Per Unit shipping ...

How do I specify the product is supposed to have the per item shipping applied rather than calculated?

What happens when an order contains both products?

Then you run into an issue ...

It can be done, but a lot of custom coding is now needed to manage this ...

OK thanks, I can see now how that would be complicated to mix it up. I think I'll just create a whole new store for the new category type using v1.3.5.

Drats! I just now saw your reply. i guess I downloaded v1.3.5 10 a few minutes to soon. Now I can learn how to upgrade. OH boy! :)

Well, the per unit mod works great on v1.3.5 so far.
Using the per unit shipping can I give the customer a choice between FedX and USPS Priority during checkout? The charge would be the same whichever they choose?
